About

True Traverse City is all about life in Traverse City, Michigan. Traverse City is a small city (population around 28,000, but probably double that if you include the surrounding townships) on the shore of Lake Michigan’s second-largest bay. Green Bay, across the pond in Wisconsin, is the largest. But Traverse City got the best deal, because the beaches around here are mostly beautiful tan sand. The Wisconsin shoreline does have some sand, but rock, mud and wetlands take center stage over there.

Traverse City’s main drag, Front Street, runs parallel to the base of West Grand Traverse Bay. Many of the two- and three-story brick buildings hail back to the 1890s.
